Recently I began painting a desk and a set of bookshelves for my mom. We have been disagreeing on the color scheme of the room. I want to the keep the room bright. It drives me crazy when I am in a small house and the colors of the room are so dark it makes the room feel small and claustrophobic. I told her I wanted to paint the walls white and then add color in through the furniture and accent pieces. She on the other hand, felt like white walls would be too boring. This one is for you mom, and for anyone else who thinks that painting the walls is the only way to bring color into a room. These are the 8 most impactful and paint free solutions to color dismay in any room!
1. PAINTED FURNITURE
Adding a pop of color using a piece of furniture is an excellent way {and my favorite way} to bring color to your home in a subtle but powerful way!

2. PILLOWS
Adding festive pillows is another awesome way to add a little color without making a room look out of control with color. It really ties a room together in just the right way.

3. FRAMES & MIRRORS
Frames and mirrors are easy and affordable accents to add pops of color throughout your house. You can purchase them from the store, or if you are working on a budget, you can spray paint old frames and mirrors you have sitting around to spice up the rooms in your house. Great thing about spray painting them is that you'll have a wide variety of colors to choose from!

4. CURTAINS
Curtains are key in tying a room together. They make a huge difference! A room without curtains looks incomplete. Why not complete your room with a nice pop of color on those curtains?

5. UPHOLSTERED FURNITURE
There is nothing like a beautiful bright couch in a while living room. Seriously, it is one of my favorite things to see. Similar to my love for bright pops of color on painted furniture, having a pop of color on an upholstered piece of furniture really brings something subtle yet special to a room.

There are so many other ways to add a pop of color to your home, but that about sums up the most impactful ways. If you don't want to paint the walls, think about the details. What accent pieces can you incorporate into the room that will bring some life to the room without making it full of color chaos? I will keep everyone posted on how the color scheme goes in my mom's living room. I am confident I will convince her pops of color through accents is the way to go!
